Grupo Casa Saba, previously known
as Casa Autrey, was created in 1892 when Dr. Adolfo Preston founded the
American Drug Store in Tampico, Tamulipas.
In 1941, Casa Autrey acquired the Azteca Drug Store. It was at
this time that the company dedicated itself exclusively to the wholesale
distribution of medicines.
In 1944, the company incorporated itself as “Casa Autrey, S.A.
de C.V.,” headquartered at Netzahualcóyotl No. 79 in Mexico
City’s Historic Center.
In 1993, the company issues shares on both the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores
(BMV) and the New York Stock Exchange, thereby initiating its trajectory
as a public company.
In February of 2000, Grupo Xtra acquired Casa Autrey forseeing rapid
commercial growth within the country as well as enormous opportunities
in this sector.
Grupo Xtra, which is owned by the Saba family, is a 100% Mexican owned
company that was founded more than 50 years ago as a producer of textiles.
In Mexico, it is considered a leading fabric supplier.
